A warm welcome
We welcome family members and friends to visit their loved ones at our homes as often as they can. Our staff aim to provide a comfortable and pleasant environment which is closer to visiting your loved ones at home.
Typically, there are no restrictions on visiting times, although we would encourage you to arrive after 10.30am so that residents may have the opportunity to prepare for their day in a relaxed and unhurried manner.
It may benefit any visitors from outside of the local area to call us by telephone prior to visiting so that we can advise of a residents availability should, for example, a hospital appointment have been previously booked.
When you arrive at the home, we would ask you to sign in, using the iPad and sign our Fire and Health & Safety Policy. We would ask that you check the information board also, as this is where our care staff will leave messages and information for your attention.
Our residents and their families and friends are encouraged to decorate their loved ones rooms as it helps, especially those with memory related conditions such as dementia, to recognise their environment and feel more at home.
As such if you would like to bring any of their belongings into the home you are welcome to do so. Having personal items in a bedroom, such as photos, a hair brush, a favourite blanket or a bottle of perfume – can provide reassurance and remind the person with dementia what room they are in. An analogue clock, in the person’s field of view and set to the right time, can also help someone make sense of the time of day.
We encourage you to organise trips for your loved ones should you be able as this time can be precious and extremely beneficial to their continued enrichment alongside our own activities programme.
If you are from out of the area and would like some suggestions on where you may take your loved ones, please don’t hesitate to ask any of our staff.
